Apple, Apricot & Tofu – from 7 months

Tofu is a good source of protein, so if you choose to bring your child up on a vegetarian diet tofu is going to be an essential ingredient in most recipes. It is also an excellent source of calcium making it a great way to boost the calcium intake of babies who are allergic or sensitive to cow’s milk. Silken tofu is available in the dairy section of the supermarket, and provides a rich smooth texture.

2 apples, peeled, cored and roughly chopped
6 fresh apricots, halved and de-stoned (or use 1/2C apricots tinned in unsweetened juice which have been well rinsed and drained)
75g tofu

Place apples and apricots (if using fresh) in a pan with a few Tbsp’s of water and cook until soft. If using tinned apricots you can add these to the cooked apple at the end with the tofu. Pureed, mash or chop fruit and tofu to your desired texture.
